Kaia Stokkvold Appointed Head of Finance and Administration at Akvafuture

Brønnøysund native Kaia Stokkvold (36) assumed the position of Head of Finance and Administration at AkvaFuture in January.

After six years at Torghatten, where she held roles as Accounting Manager and Controller, she now steps into a position within an entirely new industry.

“This is a new and exciting industry that I look forward to getting to know and gaining deeper insight into. I enter this role with strong interest and a willingness to learn, particularly with regard to biological production,” says Stokkvold.

Kaia spent 11 years in Trondheim, where she earned her Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration from NTNU Business School. She later worked at Reitan and the consulting firm EY.

In 2019, she moved back to Brønnøysund with her husband and children and continued her career at Torghatten. She now brings this experience with her into AkvaFuture.

“I have worked in fast-paced environments with many parallel tasks, and I have seen how important it is for people to pull in the same direction. When people thrive and trust each other, results are created over time.”

At Akvafuture, she becomes part of a smaller organization, offering a different dynamic than she is accustomed to. At the same time, the company is in a phase of preparing for growth, making culture and collaboration particularly important, which is exactly what motivates her in the new role.

“We are a small company with short decision-making paths. I want to contribute to growth and help us build a strong team and a solid company together, with innovative solutions for the industry.”

She describes her start as very positive:

“I have been warmly welcomed by skilled and friendly colleagues, and I am very much looking forward to what lies ahead.”

Statement of Due Diligence Assessments under the Transparency Act (2025)

Statement of Due Diligence Assessments under the Transparency Act (2025)

Since 2022, AkvaFuture AS has been subject to the Norwegian Transparency Act, formally titled the Act relating to enterprises’ transparency and work on fundamental human rights and decent working conditions.

The purpose of the Act is to promote respect for fundamental human rights and decent working conditions, and to ensure that customers, business partners, and other stakeholders are provided with insight into how products and services are produced.

The statement for 2025 was reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors on 28 May 2025. It provides a consolidated description of the company’s due diligence assessments, as well as a more detailed account of how we work to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Act. The statement, together with supplementary information on this work, is available (in Norwegian) here.

Sustainability Report for 2024 Published

Sustainability Report for 2024 Published

AkvaFuture has published its sustainability report for the 2024 financial year.

Key figures highlighted in the report include:

🐟 97.6% survival rate in production

👤 Only one reported workplace incident

♻️ Several tonnes of dry and wet sludge collected and reused in new value chains

This is the company’s second sustainability report. As a small enterprise, Akvafuture is not required under the Norwegian Accounting Act to prepare sustainability reporting. Nevertheless, we see clear value in doing so, as it increases transparency while also strengthening our own awareness and providing a solid foundation for continuous improvement.

A new development this year is our transition to reporting in accordance with EFRAG’s (European Financial Reporting Advisory Group) voluntary VSME standard for small and medium-sized enterprises. Although we are not subject to mandatory sustainability reporting, we may still be required to provide sustainability information to, for example, banks or customers that are subject to reporting obligations under the CSRD. In this context, the purpose of the VSME standard is to enable smaller companies to prepare sustainability information that meets such requirements.

An overview of our published sustainability reports can be found (in Norwegian) here.
